On August 10, 1977, the NYPD arrested David Berkowitz for the "Son of Sam" murders that had terrorized New York City for more than thirteen months. Berkowitz eagerly confessed to being a lone marauder—one who had carried out eight senseless shootings with a .44 caliber Bulldog revolver. The case was officially closed.
Journalist Maury Terry was suspicious of Berkowitz's confession. He has spent the years since that summer researching the case, meticulously gathering evidence to demonstrate that the killer did not act alone.
In The Ultimate Evil, Terry details the chilling events, proving that Berkowitz was an affiliate of—and triggerman for—a Satanic cult known as the Process Church of the Final Judgment. Terry's work not only uncovers the cult's involvement in the "Son of Sam" murders but also finds their signature on other ritual slayings across the country.
Since the first publication of The Ultimate Evil in 1987, new evidence about the Process Church has emerged. From his prison cell, David Berkowitz has now confirmed Maury Terry's conclusions, making this updated edition even more extraordinary. As Terry untangles the dense web of information to expose the frightening extent of the Process Church's reach, he also reveals its continuing underground existence today.

This is the worst formatted e-book I have ever downloaded, including free ones! Weird line breaks, sentences end in the middle of a page and start up again on the next page, typos on almost every page. Difficult to read on Kindle, tablet or PC. Non-functional table of contents, and the illustrations from the print version are not included. Don't waste your money on this digital version, Amazon should be ashamed to take money for this unreadable mess!

The Ultimate Evil An Investigation into America Most Dangerous Satanic Cult eBook Maury Terry Reviews

This book exposed much that had been hidden or ignored. As a Yonkers resident I hung out bob Untermeyer park in the late sixties and early seventies. My friend and I would see these brown robed figures with the goods over their heads walking through the park heading toward the woods. They were given wide birth and word was passed not to comment, stare or ask any questions. This book brings all those moments back.
This is a great read for those who were alive during the 70s
but even more pertinent for those who weren't. Many younger
people will fall into the satanic trap that may start with drugs
but eventually ends with suicide or murder. And if anything
could have been covered more, it would be the extent of your
own government's involvement in killing our kids with drugs.
I first read The Ultimate Evil when it was published in the late 80s. I read a lot, and nonfiction is my thing -- true crime and biographies. This is one of the best books I've ever read. My spouse, who rarely reads for pleasure, was as riveted as I was. Can't wait to dig into it again.
This is an essential read. It fills in the obvious blanks in the Son of Sam affair. Beyond that, it addresses ongoing criminal activity which continues to today. Therefore, this is more than an interest telling of past events; it is an unmasking of current truths. It is masterfully written. It is a page Turner. This is not fantasy or some abstract "conspiracy theory." It is solid investigative reporting. In this UTube age or so much "false news," it is a ray of truth.
This book was an eye-opener. I was living in North Dakota when the book first attained prominence and I had never heard of the Process. Little did I know that I was a neighbor of an internationally prominent Satanic cult. Terry paints a chilling image of how international Satanic cults have gained a foothold in the windswept plains of North Dakota and maintain themselves. The cults apparently have money and influence, but beyond that according to Terry they may have commanded murders of their enemies. Charles Manson and the Son of Sam both had connections to the cults in North Dakota. The quiet, pastoral landscapes of the northern plains suddenly took on a sinister cast.

I used this book as part of my background material for my novel 'Dem Bon'z. Terry is an excellent writer and his book should be of great interest for those with an interest in cults and their history.
Purchased the edition as it was cheap compared to physical copy. Terribly disappointed. The text is small to begin with, and to make it even worse, it's double spaced. If you adjust the size of the font on the device itself, the text gets bigger, but so do the spaces in-between lines to text. As a result, you have to turn the page every 100 words or so. It's really that bad. Even discounting all the other negative reviews, I don't see how somebody could genuinely believe this to be an acceptable digital version in the first place.

In retrospect, the whole situation is pretty hilarious. I paid $6.66 for a book about a widespread, Luciferian-oriented secret society, only to end up feeling ripped off. Who could have seen that coming? The price alone should be a dead giveaway that the person(s) tasked with pricing don't take the subject matter/readers all too seriously. Or maybe the exact opposite, and something's amok.

All I can say for sure is that if you buy the edition, you likely won't be happy with it.

UPDATE
I spent the money on a physical copy. The book itself is a fantastic read and I would highly recommend it.
This review is for the edition of the book. I cannot comment on the content of the book as I am unable to read it.

The ebook is, by default, formatted with tiny, unreadable font, and for some reason it is also set up so as to preclude repagination. So, when you increase the font size, the old line breaks are retained even though the lines must now wrap earlier. The end result is that each original line is split across two lines one of normal length and the other with only three or four words on it. It is a totally unreadable mess.
